FINAL PROJECT

Here is my Final Map, it's showing the net generation of electricity for the choropleth part, then the did proportional symbol to show the electricity that was generated from coal in (brown, yellow) and electricity generated from natural gas (blue).

This topic was not my first selection to map however I did have intentions of mapping something in regard to energy!

I got my data from the
Energy Information Administration website which is part of the U.S. Dept. of Energy. If you click on this link you will be able to access a lot of electricity data for the U.S. And if you go on this EPA web link (scroll down to where you live and type in a zipcode )you will be able to figure out how much electricity is generated from your zipcode and by what means. You can also see you zipcode's emissions and figure out what your personal emission is. Finally my data was specifically focused on coal and natural gas here are some links with other helpful information such as the import and export of coal in the U.S., as well as production, consumption, and prices.

Enjoy! Hope all of our projects get A++'s

12-11-08... And so the blue one wins yay...thanks to my boyfriend that helped me choose honestly! Good choice.

LAB 10: Bivariate Map

Lab 10...You just don't know when to stop...I'm out of ideas to fill the space...Off to work on my Final Project map...

My goodness I forgot to add some vital information to this map and I swore I was finished for class. I'm definitely loosing my brain capacity I think it's worst than I thought Geez! I chose the blue one ahhhh...THANKSGIVING BREAK is it really though?

I like the green one still though but I think they are all too busy and not sophisticated hmmmm Feedback??

LAB 9: Color Choropleth Map

I chose this color scheme because I like blues the colors in this color scheme blends together nicely. My Paper copy of this map looks much richer to my eyes the colors are more vibrant while on the computer screen it looks like everything is under a gray tint, all of the colors look faded. I prefer the paper copy.

I like this map it looks hand shaded.

LAB 8: Proportional Symbol Map

This map was fun but I liked one of class mates better! It was so creative! (Rebecca N.) I felt like I wanted to do more with this map but I didn't know how as you can see I wanted to show the water which for some reason I thought I absolutely had to have in there no matter what! So I put it and I ahhhh . . .hmmmm

I found both of my maps on Google. I like the first one because the color chosen go nicely together and the black dots really pop however it blocks some of the information of the African map.

The second one was great too because it mapped different things in the proportion symbol which gives me some ideas for my final project map!

LAB 7: Grayscale Choropleth Maps of the 50 States

Hmm can you distinguish between the classification classes which on is which? Well I don't think I would be able to because both of them seem awfully the same. In the first one I used equal interval while the latter was done by natural breaks. This map took a shorter amount of time however letting go of it was quite difficult because I couldn't decide which set up to keep. I hope you all like it and I hope it's helpful.

An interesting Choropleth map....

I love the way it this map bleeds together like a dot density map, the cartographers did a good job in picking out the colors so it would blend nicely together! I like

I liked the colors in this one but some of the darker colors seem to closely related which makes it a bit unclear to differentiate.

LAB 6: Dot Density Map

Here is my map of the Irish Population in WV. I uhhh hmmmmm. Don't know

Interesting Dot Density Map

I like the color of this map because it pops out a lot. I just noticed though that there's some dots outside of the borders of the U.S.A, this makes it look like it's moving and the dots are trailing behind, I'm not sure what it means to have it outside. I like the way it bleeds together and you see the connection with the most populated areas. This dot density map was found by doing a google search for dot density maps.

I also like this one too but it looks very elementary!
